Chilworth Gunpowder Mills (August 2007)
I visited the remains of the gunpowder mills with David and James well over a year ago, and thought I'd document the photos. The mills were closed in the 20s, and I don't think much has happened since.
First building we came across. Can't remember what the sign said it was.
Grind-wheel graveyard! These were only two of many, many more.
According to the sign, this is the remains of the tramway swing bridge.
There were numerous waterways, this one clearly didn't flow much.
The monstrosity of a building! This photo doesn't really show it well, but this gave us such a surprise when we first turned around and saw it unexpentantly!
Another view.
We found a corridor!
Another view of said corridor.
I went exploring the floor of the building, there was actually brick underneath the mud!
As you can just about see, there wasn't any roof left to speak of. Wish I'd taken a better photo of this.
And another view of the large building! There were about 4 of these rooms and 2 corridors between each set.
